Workshop 1 – Mott McDonald Speakers:

Mr. Paul Renshall, Mr. Andrew Thomas, Mr. Kawaya Saleh

A Pragmatic Approach to building a Smart Grid (Workshop)

This interactive workshop builds on the presentations made during the conference to determine the activities necessary to develop a Smart Grid. Some Smart Grid applications will be implemented rapidly whilst others will be an evolutionary change. Each Utility will determine its own priorities. This workshop will examine smart grid functionality and its impact on key aspects of the utilities activities including
- Transmission and distribution power systems,
- IT applications in control centres and substations,
- The communications to link the smart grid together.
At the end of the workshop delegates will understand the drivers for a smart grid and the practical steps which will facilitate implementation in their own organisation.

Workshop 2 – Alcatel Lucent speaker:

Mr. Lynn Hunt, Mr. Dominique Verhulst, Mr. Benoit Leridon, Mr. Bora Varliyagci

"Deep dive on IP/MPLS for Smart Grid - Meeting the teleprotection requirements across an entire IP network -
Building a fully secure network - Sharing the experience of real implementations and experimentations".
